Sawyer is ONE!

Sweet Sawyer is one year old!  He is an absolute doll.  I mean, look at this face:

Sawyer waves, claps, says "Mama", and likes to look at books.  He giggles when we get a book out to read, which makes my teacher-heart happy.  Sawyer tries to copy everything Henry does, but also flops on the floor and screams when Henry comes near him sometimes.  Definitely a second child tactic.

In September, we visited a pediatric neurologist because our pediatrician was concerned that Sawyer wasn't crawling at 9 months old.  The neurologist said that Sawyer was fine, but to come back in a few months if he wasn't walking yet.  Sawyer started crawling at around 10 months old, and he started walking last week!  Yay!

Sawyer's Favorite Things:
Food: Fruit squeeze pouches
Book: That's Not My Tiger
Song: Any song the dalmations sing on the Disney Channel
Favorite Time of Day: Bath time
Favorite Toy: Puzzles
Must-Haves:  green blanket, elephant and giraffe pacis

August

August was super busy for us.  I started teaching full-time again, so we tried to get in a few family-bonding days in between my work days.  We went to the zoo, my family's house, Frisco Roughriders game, Perot Museum, and Sea Life Aquarium.  It is really too hot to spend much time outside, so we spend hours playing baseball, football, cars, hide and seek, and "monsters" inside.  We are also just now getting on the Frozen bandwagon, about 6 months later than the rest of the world.  I love it, and make the boys watch it with me.  It's nice to have children, so you have someone to watch Disney movies with.

He's got his toolbox, ready to get some work done

10 Months Old!

Sawyer Boy turned 10 months old last week.  It is not possible that this sweet little baby will be one soon.  He is still so snuggly, sensitive, and just seems like he should be about 4 months old.  Time flies.

Big brother, crashing his photo shoot again

Sawyer finally started crawling!  He looks funny crawling around because he is so small, but he gets to where he wants to go.  He can also pull up and furniture surf.  He can stand if he leans against something, and loves for us to hold his fingers so he can walk.  He does not have any tricks except for giving high fives.  We try to clap, wave, blow kisses, and sign "more", but he just smiles and laughs at us.
Sawyer loves his friends at daycare, especially the dog, Ladybug.  Ladybug even let him splash in her water dish this week!  Sawyer's favorite things are baths, Henry's puzzle that makes noise, pulling books off the bookshelf, and any kind of food.  He also loves to watch the Dalmatians on the Disney Junior commercials.  We have not found a food he will not eat yet.  I hope he stays this easy to please!  He loves to be held and cuddle, especially at night after his bottle.  He's such a precious little love muffin!

9 Months

Sawyer Boy is 9 months old!  I seriously can't believe this happy tiny boy will be one soon.  Not possible.

He had his 9 month check-up today.  At his 6 month check-up he was 16 lbs.  And now he's up to...17 lbs!  I was a little concerned that he only gained a pound in 3 months, but the doctor said he wasn't worried, and that Sawyer will probably always be small.  I don't know how he's so tiny, he eats anything and everything, and will eat as long as we will feed him.  I'm not sure what his favorite food is, he seems to love it all.

Sawyer likes to give high fives, babble, and be held.  He loves to splash in the bathtub, but Henry is very quick to sternly tell him, "No splashing in the bathtub, Sawyer." His favorite toy is paper- baby wipes, paper towels, tissue paper-  it doesn't matter, he loves it.  Henry is his best friend, and his whole face lights up when Henry plays with him and talks to him.  He will lean forward and get on his hands and knees to try to get to what he wants, but doesn't crawl yet.  He can stand up holding on to furniture, but doesn't cruise yet.  Sawyer gives the biggest hugs, and open-mouthed slobbery kisses.  He still seems pretty content to sit and smile and watch the world around him.  I hope he grows up to be a good listener and deep thinker.  And I hope he still likes to hug his momma when he's all grown up.

8 Months

Sawyer Boy is 8 months old.  I love that Henry calls him that, and I hope it sticks just like "Ya-ya" has.  He is so happy when he is being held, and SO NOT HAPPY when he is not getting the attention he feels he needs.  He has a big, goofy smile and grabs our face to give us open-mouth slobbery kisses.  He gives the best hugs and loves to cuddle.
Sawyer Boy has 2 bottom teeth, and 4 top teeth coming in, which as made for sad teething times in the Morgan home.  Sawyer eats pretty much everything we eat, just in tiny pieces, and loves it all.  He can put away some food.  He prefers finger food, but is ok with baby food, too.

A look of concern because big brother fell down
Sawyer loves to watch Henry and tries so hard to play with him.  He thinks it's hilarious when we throw a ball in the air, loves to splash in the tub and pool, and likes roughhousing with his daddy.  He also likes to look at books, jump in his doorway bouncy thing, and talk to us.  He is starting to copy sounds we make, and does a really cute whisper sound when he needs to tell us a secret.

Mom!  A car!
This week, Sawyer slept in a real crib for the first time in his life!  We moved Henry to a big boy bed, so Sawyer got the crib.  He has been in a swing, pack & play, and bassinet up until now, and I think he really enjoys being able to stretch out in his new bed.  When we wakes up, he talks to himself and plays with his feet for awhile.  When Sam or I go to get him out of bed, he gets the biggest smile, flaps his arms and kicks his legs, and giggles.  It's one of my favorite times of day.

June

June has been so great.  Not too hot, not too busy, and I'm cherishing my last couple of months as a (part-time) stay at home mom.  Here's what we have been up to!
Sawyer ADORES his big brother.  He tries so hard to play with him, but mostly just tries to touch him.  Sawyer wants to play with Henry's toys now, which has led to some brotherly fights.  And so it begins...

We took the boys to a Ranger game earlier this month.  It was Sawyer's first game, and Henry's first game where he actually understood what was going on.  He insisted on bringing his glove.  The boys did pretty well, but by 9:30, they made it very clear that it was time to go home.

Sawyer got to try finger painting for the first time.  He's a natural!

We celebrated Father's Day with the best daddy!  Sam is so very involved with the boys, and does not hesitate to help in any way he can.  He's always ready to step in and play when I need a break, and read a Rangers baseball program before bedtime.

Since the weather has been so nice, we have spent lots of time at the park, zoo, going on walks, and playing outside.

Henry wearing a "Take It Slow" shirt.  Oh, the irony.

I love baby feet

A squirt bottle filled with water kept him entertained for nearly 30 minutes.
He squirted every inch of the playground.

Sawyer is wondering where his popsicle is

Love his cheesy smile

My brother and his family came to visit this week!  It's the first time the 3 cousins have been together.  Sawyer LOVES Faith.  She tolerated him well.

We are also making a couple of "big boy" transitions in the Morgan household.  We are attempting to move Henry to a big boy bed again.  It did NOT go well when we tried in February.  But Sawyer has been sleeping in a pack & play or bassinet his whole life, and I think it's time he gets to sleep in a crib.  The day after we got Henry's brand new mattress, he spilled his fish's food ALL OVER it.  He blamed it on his blanket.

We are also potty training Henry.  We used his toy to show how to get to the potty quickly, go potty, then empty it and flush.  Henry LOVED this and asked to do it over and over.  This is Handy Manny sitting on the potty, and Henry squirting teetee (water) into the potty.

Henry is actually doing pretty well.  He had a couple of accidents yesterday morning, but hasn't had an accident in 24 hours!  (Knock on wood)  However, by noon yesterday I had cleaned up Henry's messes, stuck my hand in  Sawyer's poopy diaper, and Sawyer pooped in the tub during his bath.  Mom desperately needed a Dr. Pepper.

He felt like he needed to add to all the poop
happening in the Morgan home

The boys playing ball.  Melts my heart.
