Reasons My Son Is Crying

*He wants bubbles in his bath.
*He wants a banana.
*I chose the wrong banana from the bunch.
*The water in his swimming pool is too wet.
*He isn't allowed to hit me with a baseball bat.
*He wants in his high chair.
*He does NOT want in his high chair.
*We went on a long, lovely walk to enjoy the cool morning.
*There are too many bubbles in his bath and they are touching his face.
*He brought me a piece of string cheese and said, "Cheese!", and I opened the string cheese for him.
*He cannot jump on his unborn brother or sister like a trampoline.
*He is pulling out his own hair and it hurts.
*He cannot dump out cupfuls of bath water onto the bathroom floor.
*The stove is hot and he can't touch it.
*I didn't choose the correct Yo Gabba Gabba video based on his pointing and grunting.
*He cannot throw his pacifier at other shoppers in Target.
*His stuffed animal froggy isn't allowed to go swimming in the toilet.
*He brought me a book and I began to read it to him.
*His Sesame Street stickers are sticky.
*I made him wear pants because we were going out in public.
*He can't rip the pages in our family photo album.
*He isn't allowed to throw his food on the floor.
*His shoes are on.
*I suggested we sing "Itsy Bitsy Spider".
*I still don't know.

And then there are some moments like this, that make it all better:

He's No Michael Phelps.

We signed up for baby swim lessons with some friends and their babies.  I was expecting a little splashing in the water, maybe a little floating, and that's it.   Nope.  There was singing, kicking, practice hanging on to the wall, and going underwater.  Oh, we're not supposed to call it "going under".  We're supposed to call it "swimming."  Here's how the first day went:

Oh man.  I thought we were in for a LOOONG couple of weeks.  I don't know what happened, but he loved it after that!  I think he was just trying to impress his lady friends Sydney, Audrey, and Molly.

"Going swimming" for the first time
The last couple of days, he actually swam underwater between Sam and me!  Well, he let us put him underwater and push him like a little torpedo.  He was supposed to kick, but he always just got real stiff and waited until he floated to the top.

"Going swimming" with Daddy

I love his very wet, slobbery kisses.

Drive-Thru Safari

There is a cute little drive-thru safari park near Rusk.  I remember going there twice when I was little.  The first time, a buffalo stuck his entire head in our car, and the second time a llama sneezed green boogers all over my mom and me.  So when my dad suggested we take Henry, I was definitely on board!
Hank loved throwing the little food pellets.  Not necessarily at animals.  He would throw food in the car, while the windows were rolled up.  He also stuck food in every nook and cranny in my car.  I still randomly find pellets hidden in there.

He didn't have any problem hand-feeding anything that came to the window.  He really is fearless.

I love this camel's smiling face.  I shall name him Leopold.

This guy was big.  Really, really big.  I like to think his name is Hoss.

And this is a baby zebra.  Oh my gosh.

May Things

It's mid-June, so it's about time I get some May pictures on here, right?!

My A-DORABLE cousin Jennifer graduated from Lufkin High School a couple of weeks ago.  She's a tiny, sassy little thing.  She just made the pom squad at UT (you know, those gorgeous girls that wear chaps on the sidelines at the football games?  Yeah, she's one of them.)  She's going to see if they have any maternity chaps for me to wear around the house and to go grocery shopping and stuff.
Hank and his Sweetie at graduation

The older DuBose girl cousins (Meagan, Lauren, Erin, Hot UT Pom Girl Jennifer, me, Madeline)

And all (but 1) of the DuBose girls, plus our sweet Memaw in the middle

And then here's just some random pictures from my phone.

His hair will grow to cover the receding hairline one day, I just KNOW it!

Hank and his Coach, going to grab a bite to eat

If you look carefully, you can see blue shaving gel on his face. He was trying to be like Daddy.

$.50 corn dog day at Sonic! WOOHOO!

And we got a new pool

Before swim lessons

During swim lessons

After swim lessons!

Baby #2 Love

My life is so all Henry, all the time, I thought I should take a moment to give a shout out to Baby #2.

Baby #2  has been so easy compared to my first pregnancy.  I only get sick a couple of times a week, but that's really it!  With Henry I craved fruit all the time.  With this one, it's Chick-fil-a, and Raising Cane's.  But Henry and I stay super active, and found a walking trail that we love, so we walk 2.5-3 miles a few times a week.  That should balance out Chick-fil-a, right??

I never took weekly pictures of my pregnant belly with Henry.  I've only taken 1 with this one so far.  Here's me at 17 weeks:

I don't know what this kid has been doing in there the past 3 weeks, but I am almost 20 weeks now and CONSIDERABLY bigger.  Maybe it was the Reese's, Cane's, and turtle cheesecake from my last post.  Just a theory.

We could have found out the gender today at our sonogram, but decided not to.  But it's a boy.  Wanna know how I know?  Look at this face:

That's a boy face.  (I have some serious apologizing to do if this turns out to be a girl.  She will be so sad that I thought her face was boy-ish)  He is about 6 inches long from head to bottom and weighs about 1/2 pound.  Or, as my weekly email put it, "about the size of a large tomato".  My due date is October 24.  Just in time for cute tiny Halloween costumes.  YAY!

In other good news, I passed my 3 hour glucose screening!  I had gestational diabetes with Henry, so they screened me early since I have a good chance of getting it again with all future pregnancies.  I failed my 1-hour test, so I had to go back in for the 3-hour test.  I wasn't feeling good about it.  I just assumed I would fail.  But I got a call today that everything was normal, and they will retest me in a couple of months.  WOOHOO!  Bring on the carbs!  Oh pasta, how I love you!

At the sonogram this morning it was opening and closing its mouth, and the doctor said it was drinking.  It might be the sweetest thing I've seen.  I don't feel any huge karate kicks like I did with Henry yet.  Right now it's just gentle little nudges.  Let's hope that's an indication of this one's personality.  Laid-back, calm, peaceful....  I can always dream, right?!
