Henry Goes to the Zoo

We took Henry to the zoo for the first time Saturday!  Our wonderful Aunt Debby gave us tickets a while ago, and we decided to enjoy the beautiful weather this weekend.  I really think he liked it.

Well,  he threw up in the car on the way to the zoo so we had to pull over and wipe down him, his carseat, and the entire back seat of my car.  I just assumed he was car sick or something.  Rookie Mom mistake.  I was so excited about the idea of taking him to the zoo for the first time, that I insisted that we still go.  I was also feeling a little queasy, but being covered in sour baby vomit will do that to ya, right?.   **Side note**  Our "feeling a little queasy" turned into full-blown, gosh awful stomach virus a few hours later.  I'll spare you the details, but it was bad.  Real bad.

I don't think he really saw any of the actual zoo animals.  He really liked all the kids, the pigeons, and the squirrels though.  And there was a part of the zoo with a little tv, he got really excited about that.
That's pure excitement, written all over his face.

Fascinated by people, totally ignoring the magnificent zebra behind him

A baby giraffe. Almost cuter than my own child.

I made him pose with every animal statue there.

Henry, there's a lion behind you.  Stop staring at the blackbird.

Don't you just want to hug this guy?!

This picture is for my little brutha.  He coaches in Sonora, and this was a replica of the caverns in Sonora.
Henry is clearly excited about it.

This reminds me of Forrest Gump, when he goes to see Jenny and meets little Forrest for the first time and they sit
on the floor and watch Burt and Ernie together and tilt their heads to the side.

HENRY!  FLAMINGOS! RIGHT BEHIND YOU, SON!

I don't know why he unbuttoned the top 2 buttons on his shirt.   It must have been to impress the ladies.

8 Months

I haven't posted any Henry stories in awhile, because we haven't had any awful adventures lately!  Last weekend we went to east Texas to visit my family.  We went to a high school pep rally, then went to watch my super cute cousin dance at the Lufkin HS football game.  I was prepared for major Hank drama.  But he was angelic.  Didn't even make a sound at the game, let everyone pass him around and "oooh and ahhh" over him.  No blog material.

He actually turned 8 months old last week.  We didn't get our photo shoot done last week because he got 4 more teeth, started pulling up and furniture surfing, and started speed crawling.  Awful teething AND constant bumps and bruises all rolled into one glorious week.  He was not "camera ready" last week.  And his momma did not have the patience to attempt it last week.

So here we go.  This morning I decided to attempt 8 month pictures.  He did have sweet potatoes and pears on his forehead and stuck in his eyelashes, but I didn't want to wash it off and risk upsetting the beast.  He hates to have his face washed.  He was also fascinated by the sticker on his shirt.  He kept trying to pull it off so I had to use Puffs to distract him.  Here we go...

It started off so well....

He wanted me to get a shot of him crawling.  He used to do a weird crawling combo.  It sort of looked like an inchworm with a peg leg, mixed with some bear crawls, mixed with various yoga poses.  But he's mastered the traditional crawling now!

Hank also wanted me to mention that he is NOT wearing skinny jeans.  They were just a little snug.

And then, he remembered the sticker.   Off it goes.

This is a picture of his victory yell when the sticker was finally off.

And then it all fell apart.   Here he is, grabbing the camera strap.

Here he is, rubbing his dirty hands on the lense.

And here he is, eating the lense cover thingie.

And this is how I knew he was done with pictures.

Ever wonder what it's like trying to photograph an 8 month old?
This pretty much sums it up.

Lately...

Here's what Hank's been up to lately!
He hit it off with his friend, Camilla.  Don't worry, I already had a talk with him
about getting too "handsy" on the first date.

This little guy can stop traffic in a store

His hand-eye coordination may need some work

Henry had a jam session at church with his cousin Will.  Will would play the xylophone,
then hold out the stick for Henry to chew on.  Such good a good, sharing friend!

My mom took this picture while Sam and I were on our romantic date (ok, we were sweating our butts off at the batting cages.)  Notice, Hank is wearing overalls.  He would wear overalls 7 days a week if my parents had their way.

Hank and Major are bonding.  Hank is pulling out handfuls of Major's fur, Major is licking the
Puffs off Henry's feet.  What  a team!

Henry has been out with Audrey several times.  It's getting pretty serious.
  Don't tell Camilla though.

Sweet boy fell asleep at dinner

QUICK, name something sadder than this face...I knew you couldn't do it.
His mean momma took something away from him that he wasn't supposed to play with.    He may have inherited his parents' flair for the dramatic.

He chased that ball all over the living room, then got stuck under the desk.

His Coach let him have lots and lots of sweet tea.
That was 4 days ago, and Henry is still on a sugar high.
