Mama said there'd be days like this...

This is the first weekend we didn't have anything big planned.  I was so looking forward to catching up on housework, spending fun time with my boys, and maybe even sneaking in a quick nap.  Here's how the day has unfolded so far:

11pm-Henry wakes up
1am-  Henry wakes up
3:30am-Henry wakes up
4:30am- Henry wakes up
5:45am-Henry wakes up, and is up for the day!
7:55am-Lucy gets out of the yard and a neighbor has to return her.  Sam is not happy to see her.
8:00am-Sam has to take our dog to the vet for shots and to check on sores he has all over his ears from the biting flies that have taken over our backyard.  Gross.
9:00am-  Sam has to go to Keller to get tax stuff, to Ft. Worth, then to Alvarado to drop of paperwork.  In the middle of his errands, he bring me a Dr. Pepper from Quik Trip.  It's like carbonated manna from heaven.
*Meanwhile, back at the ranch....
9:00am-12:00pm  Henry screams.  We walked outside, put him in the bathtub, went on the swing outside, rocked, paced, let him pull my hair.  Nothing works.  I get 1 load of laundry started.  That's it.
I'm hungry.  I haven't gone to the store for groceries in a long time, but I  find a frozen corn dog in the freezer.  Henry is somewhat quiet outside, so I take my lunch out to the front yard.  I stand barefoot, dirty, holding my baby, and eating a corn dog in the front yard.  Don't worry Mom and Dad, I'm representing my classy East Texan heritage well.
12:30pm-Henry starts to vomit all over me.  I'm not talking a little spit-up, I'm talking projectile vomit from deep in his tummy.  I change clothes twice, and each time he continues to throw up everywhere.
1:00pm-Check-in at CareNow.
1:15pm-Henry continues to vomit, so we cancel at CareNow and head to Cook's Children Urgent Care
2:00pm-check in at Cook's, and to sit next to the two loudest children I have seen in awhile.  I want to spank them.  I have not washed my hair in 2 days, smell like vomit, and have not managed to put on makeup or brush my teeth today.  White trash.  Meanwhile Henry is so lethargic he can't stay awake and is just limp.
2:30-4:00pm-They decide he has a virus, give him meds, have me wait 15 minutes then feed him, and send us on our way.  We are trapped in a curtained room with Spongebob Squarepants on tv.
4:15pm- we get home and Henry is still lethargic, but finally asleep.  Sam starts the yard work that he has planned on doing today.  I take this opportunity to lay in the bathtub and eat a bag of SunChips.
5:30pm-Henry wakes up screaming.  We try feeding him, bathing him, etc.  Nothing.  Lucy continues to get out of the yard and roam the neighborhood throughout the evening.
6:30pm-Sam attempts dinner.  I forgot to buy tomato paste, so I put on my super sexy basketball shorts with stains on them, a dirty t-shirt, and head to Big Lots.  Still no makeup, hair is wet, still haven't brushed my teeth.
6:45pm-No tomato paste.  Off-brand tomato sauce will work, right?
7:15-8:15pm   We try to eat, Henry screams.  He will only calm down when Sam holds him.
9:15pm-both boys are currently passed out on the couch.  Lucy has figured out how to get out of her kennel in the garage.  Lucy is rummaging around in the garage.  I don't even care.
Anyone want a German Shorthair Pointer??  Seriously.

5 lessons I've learned from the day:
1. Showers are overrated.  And no one cares if your hair is piled on top of your head and you look rough, to  put it delicately.
2. I never thought I could be covered in another human's vomit and not get sick myself.  It really is different when it's your own child's vomit!  There is something sweet about a baby in only a diaper snuggled up on you.
3. Never buy a German Shorthaired Pointer.  If someone tries to give you one, run far, far away and don't be friends with them anymore.
4. My husband is amazing.  I already knew this, but I just need to reiterate this point.  He ran errands today, took care of house stuff, took care of our sick child, brought me a Dr. Pepper, cooked dinner...amazing.
5. Some days you just need to sit in the tub with a bag of SunChips.

Take Me Out to the Ballgame!

Monday night we went to the watch the Rangers again!  By the time Sam and I both got off work, made it home, got little one ready, ate dinner, parked and walked to the stadium, we missed all the Pudge retirement festivities.  They were playing the Yankees.  I think it will be cool one day to tell him that he was at the ballpark when Pudge retired, and saw Sabathia, Jeter, and other big names in person.
We have a baseball fan on our hands.  Henry was so great again.  The first really loud cheer still scares him, but he is fine after that.  He is such a wiggle worm it's hard to watch the game, but we love taking him.  He was talking, chewing on his hands, kicking, pulling my hair out (a new super fun trick!) and checking out everyone around us.  He had quite a few admirers.  The lady behind us watched him all game, then at the end told us, "She is so cute!  Is this her first game?"  I didn't have the heart to tell her that he is a boy.
The Rangers are 0-2 when Henry is in attendance.  Don't tell superstitious Uncle Christopher, he won't let Hank come to any more games!  Check out the future 2037 American League MVP!!

Seriously Mom., no more pictures.  I'm trying to watch the game.

It's Baseball Time in Texas!

   IT'S BASEBALL SEASON!!!!
Sunburns, ballpark nachos,  $8 soft drinks, Pat Green's "I Like Texas", perfect ballpark sunsets, Rangers on tv every night...I'm excited.

Sam and I got 20-game season tickets the past 2 years, and this year we got the 10-game package.  We figured it may be difficult to make it to 20 games in the heat of a Texas summer with a little one.  Sam's parents came to town Friday and watched little Hank, and Sam and I went to Opening Day.  It was much-need "Sam and Amy time".  We tailgated with our friends before the game.  Most people would make cheap hot dogs, chips, and bean dip before a baseball game.  Not our friend Garrett.  He had bacon-wrapped jalapenos filled with cream cheese, gourmet burgers, the works.  It was amazing.

Saturday we also went to the game, and this time brought little Hank.  I wasn't sure how he would do.  3 hours at a baseball game + who knows how long in traffic could be a recipe for disaster.  He was amazing!  When we first got there it was loud and he got scared, but after that he really liked to look around and watch everyone.  He fell asleep for a few innings, and got a little fussy in the 9th, but did great.  I think we have a baseball fan on our hands!
The loud noises were scary at first

3 Months Old!

Henry turned 3 months old on Wednesday!  I can't believe how much he is growing and changing.  It seems like this week everyone has told me how big he looks all of a sudden.  A lady at Target told me he looks like a 6 month old!  She said she couldn't believe a 3 months old was that alert and active.  Believe me, I know.  We get that a lot.

He is sleeping better at night but still moves and makes noises all the time, even in his sleep.  He goes to bed about 10pm, then wakes up once during the night, and is up around 6am to go to the babysitter's house.

He loves playing with his friends at the babysitter's house and in his class at church.  This week he sat at the table to listen to the Bible lesson for the first time.  He still loves to be outside and has started really watching our dogs run around in the backyard.  His newest fun trick is blowing bubbles and making spitting noises.  He is SO close to rolling from his back to his stomach and likes to talk to the animals dangling on his playmat.

He laughed at Sam a couple of times last week when Sam was giving him kisses.  Henry smiles and talks ALL THE TIME.  I see lots of "Let's see who can be quiet the longest" contests in our future like we had to do with my brother to get him to be quiet.  He has started to snuggle a little more, and will lay his head on our shoulder or chest, which he has never been still enough to do before.  His favorite activity is splashing in his bathtub.  It's the one thing we can count on to make him happy when he is mad.  He constantly has dirt between his toes and under his fingernails and I have no idea where it comes from!  Maybe little boys just grow dirt under their nails?

His hair is growing like crazy and is blond and very fuzzy.  His eyes are getting bluer and still don't miss a thing.  He is finally getting some meat on his long bird legs, and he has some serious cheeks going on.  Hank is not quite wearing 3 month clothes, but newborn clothes are a little snug.  Every single week I think "he's the perfect size and age".  He's just beautiful.

We did not have a very successful 3 month photo shoot. He is on the go so much and all you get is a blur, but you get the idea.

He's had enough pictures, time to get down!
